A little more about me…
Bio
My name is Laura Lakin. I am a very experienced and well qualified tutor with the ability to quickly build positive relationships and support every tutee to reach their potential. I have a proven record of excellent results and many past students who have left with a passion for the social sciences.
Recent Position
Most recently I worked as the Head of Psychology and prior to that the Head of Sociology at an outstanding local grammar school. During my time there, numbers in these subjects grew year on year as students witnessed the positive relationships I built and the excellent results gained. Many of my students went on to gain places on highly competitive university courses.
Career Experience
My teaching career began in 2000 with a four year teaching placement in Japanese High Schools where I taught English as a Foreign Language and gained my CELTA qualification. In 2007 I undertook my PGCE in the UK with a placement in an international school in Hong Kong. I gained my QTS and completed my MEd at a private school in Shropshire, before moving to Gloucestershire where I have taught in both Comprehensive and Grammar schools as well as a year in an Italian International school.
The Future
I am now enjoying a better work/life balance which enables me to be a full-time tutor. I’m excited to be able to focus on ‘the teaching’ and work closely with students both in the UK and abroad.
